Adults
Everyone needs to deal with feelings of pain, anxiety, confusion, anger, adjustment difficulties, loss, and sometimes grief.
Therapy offers us an opportunity to develop in an accepting non judgmental environment and to receive support that promotes well being and growth.
It is my opinion that we should not tolerate feelings of great and continuous difficulty or a feeling that we are stuck and not satisfied with what we have.
Seeking treatment is the first important step towards a better understanding of ourselves and others.
Teenagers
Adolescence is a particularly difficult age. Many typical behaviors seen in young people are considered pathologies at an older age.
Among other things, confusion in the perception of one’s own identity, social pressures, ambivalence and intense emotions.
Today’s youth are also exposed to anxiety-provoking effects on social media. Physically, the brain undergoes changes that are reflected in difficulty in emotional regulation and impulsivity.
Coupled with a reluctance to communicate and share with parents in the crises they are going through, this is a time that is a “perfect storm.”
According to many mental health professionals, adolescents can especially benefit from therapy because they are under a lot of pressure and are at an age where they have to make decisions that can affect their entire life course.
